Authorisation

Providing authorisation features, the Distra Switch enables complete end-to-end card transaction lifecycle management. Whether employing simple checks or complete transaction authorisation, Switch may perform complete authorisation on behalf of an issuer or may simply ‘pass-through’ to the processor for authorisation…or somewhere in between these extremes.

Distra Switch offers integrated authorisation features for card based transactions.

The card issuer and authorisation features can be modelled from a simple straight through relationship to one where the Switch acts as the primary authoriser for the transaction or basically any combination in between. For example, the Distra Switch may augment processing by providing all of the security and transaction acceptance checks then finally passing the transaction to the card issuer for final authorisation.

The authorisation services offered by the Distra Switch include the following:

  • Basic checks including PAN validity, expiry date checks and valid accounts
  • Security features such as PIN validation and Scheme checks, including CVV/CVV2 and CAVV
  • Hot Card and Negative/Black List checks
  • EMV authorisation using TVR/CVR results, ARQC validation and floor/velocity limits
  • Card usage limits with multiple transaction and merchant type category amounts and events
  • Transaction acceptance rules (or limitations) based upon transaction type, acquiring merchant, acquiring network
  • Other features such as multi-currency, Floor/Ceiling limits, host availability

The Switch supports Stand-In authorisation which may be selected in the case of issuer unavailable or transactions below a floor limit. For each card type present on the Switch, the Stand-In functionality can be either or both of the following:

  • Authorisation against and maintenance of a positive card and account file, which is kept up synchronised with the primary authorisation system by file load, online updates or via the balance fields from previous authorisations, where available
  • Activity based authorisation, where the switch dynamically builds and maintains per card usage for a particular period ensuring specifically offline transaction limits are adhered to

Supporting these authorisation functions is a comprehensive set of routing capabilities which cater for all routing possibilities and requirements, including:

  •  Primary route only
  • Primary/Secondary route
  • Special Routes based upon data present in, or missing from, the transaction
  • Online/Offline selection based upon floor limits

Each of these features is selectable down to each configured card type and where applicable, the cardholder selected account.

Like all Distra solutions, these features are build using Distra's Component and Framework software architecture so can be readily enhanced and extended to build business advantage.
