Distra Pty Ltd today announced that Nokia has licensed its technology for use in
its suite of products for 3G networks. The first operational system is live and
being used by a network operator in Australia. The system amongst other
functions takes advantage of Distras Mission Critical Application Server
(MCAS) to provide fault-tolerant message passing on commodity platforms,
high-speed database streaming, distributed database replication, alarms, and
increased availability.
The system is scaleable, having been designed to
meet the operators present and future requirements and was implemented at
minimal cost. It is based on open industry standards Java, XML and a standard
SQL database.
Ms Susanne Stenberg, Nokias Manager of System Integration
in the Pacific said, We chose Distra and its technology because of the
flexibility of its platform in providing a highly available/reliable solution,
in conjunction with reduced time to market with development.
We have
been very pleased with the result and hope to replicate this project with other
operators globally. We will definitely consider Distra for other
solutions.
The use of open, high performance systems built on
inexpensive platforms is increasingly common in telecommunications, banking and
trading. All face the problem of increased volumes, closer regulatory scrutiny
and access to real-time transaction data whilst improving the confidence and
trust of the user community.
We are very pleased to be working with
Nokia and in their choice of our technology. The timing is right for a change to
open, contemporary solutions to provide the flexibility and speed to market for
new business models and approaches, in an increasingly competitive market,
states Mike Aston, Distra CEO. Our approach sets the scene for driving out
significant costs in transaction processing and improving business agility
without compromising on fault-tolerance.
