Distra demonstrates its open Java Payment Switch

01 Aug 2001

Showing the strength of its open architecture, Distra deployed its EFT payments processing platform on a two R4400 processor Himalaya with 512MB RAM.

The test utilised Himalaya Java Virtual Machine (JVM) 1.2.2 Classic and integrated to the Himalaya NonStop SQL for database logging. The rapid deployment and successful testing of perfect load balancing and failover between switch instances operating on the separate CPUs clearly demonstrates the solution portability.

This successful deployment of a new generation, Java based, platform independent, open payments system, on the current established platform within nearly 80% of the world's major banks and financial institutions, clearly provides a low risk migration path. This statement gathers significantly more relevance when it is understood that the Payment Switch's distributed architetcure and Java foundation will allow the switch to be deployed as one logical switch across multiple and mixed platforms, including of course the exisiting Himalaya platform.
