Distra appoint Technical Architect Solutions to provide an independent benchmark testing of their Java Payment Switch on a SUN E10K. The tests demonstrate:-
- near linear scalability as processors and new server domains are added
- scaling highlights the switches load balancing capabilities across the available resource which allows for a lower price point per device but also allows the business to spread its production risk exposure across multiple servers per site
- the switch interfaced to two Eracom Hardware Security Modules. The switch demonstrates linear scalability across the Eracom devices to peak Eracom loading levels (a maximum of 230 transactions per second (tps) throughput was achieved utilising both Eracoms with up to five functional calls per debit transaction; no timeout or denial simulation utilised to achieve this figure)
- the Distra database write technology demonstrated the high performance and reliability capabilities offered by the solution; tests were performed in writing to one, two and three databases.
- 1400tps was achieved with full transaction logging to multiple databases but the solid state disks posed a bottleneck to driving the application further
- 2400tps was achieved with Log index enabled but no database
